Carol Balzer   Carol Balzer, Central Region Director
cbalzer@fanshawec.ca
Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for voting me in as your Central Region Director. I’m excited to get more involved with this great organization.

I’m currently the Administrative Services Manager at Fanshawe Student Union, in London, Ontario. I’ve been working at the FSU since 1997 (I started when I was 10)! I’m a graduate of Fanshawe and I love the energy and positivity you get from working in the College system.

I’ve been involved with AMICCUS-C since 2006 and I’ve had the privilege of assisting in many different aspects, including hosting a regional and a ‘Falcon Awesome’ National conference.

Outside of the office I have a fabulous family that keeps me running all the time. My three kids have made me into a hockey, dance, soccer, lacrosse & karate mom. I thrive on having a busy life both at work and at home and I’m confident that I’ll represent this organization well.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions/concerns or suggestions.

Chris Chelmick   Chris Chelmick, President
chrisc@nait.ca
Chris Chelmick is a proud husband, father, and graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (’96) where he was first introduced to the ‘weird idea’ of student-led organizations. He was a student leader and returned to NAITSA in 1998 to become its Executive Director.

In Edmonton, Alberta, at one of Canada’s most thriving polytechnics, Chris has enjoyed the challenge of working with staff and student leaders to raise the bar each year to deliver ever-increasing value for NAIT students.

AMICCUS-C has consistently been a positive influence on NAITSA and it always comes down to the members - the people who understand what it’s like to work for, and report to, students. Sharing ideas and supporting each other is what AMICCUS-C is ultimately for, and why it’s so vital.

As for the ‘weird idea’ of student-led organizations, it’s really only weird to non-AMICCUS-C folks. Only their students and staff truly understand why these organizations are successful and thrive.

As President, Chris intends to bring to the Board the NAITSA value of ‘raising the bar each year’ and hopefully leave AMICCUS-C a little better than he found it. He is excited at the challenge of honouring the hard work of his predecessors who ensured that the 2015/16 Board ‘found it’ in the greatest position the organization has ever been in.

  Jordan Hallawell, Communication Director
jhallawell@busu.net
I am Jordan Hallawell, and I have the privilege of being your Communications Director for 2016. First of all, I want to thank you all for your support during the National Professional Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. I am extremely excited to work for you and be a member of this year’s Board of Directors.

I have had the pleasure of working for the Brock University Students’ Union since 2009, where I started as a student staff member. My first AMICCUS-C conference was in London, Ontario, and shortly followed by the regional conference here in Niagara. These two conferences both provided several learning opportunities and were the beginning of several friendships with people who dealt with the same daily challenges as me. I thoroughly enjoyed my first two AMICCUS-C conferences, and I hope to work hard to ensure all new members have the same amazing experience as I did.

As your Communications Director I will be working with the Board to deliver timely and consistent updates to our delegates, using the newsletter, our OrgSync portal, and AMICCUS-C website. Additionally, using the feedback collected at the national conference, I hope to work with the Board to turn your feedback into action, including a potential rebranding. All of these areas and many more will hopefully progress AMICCUS-C to stronger position within its membership and hopefully showcase why new schools should become members.

If you have any questions or concerns where I may be of assistance, please feel free to contact me at any time.
